The Future and Sustainability
Sustainability can be considered as the ability of the project “National e-Service Bus and shared platform/e-services” to continue its operational activities into the future. The team of creators, stakeholders, and sponsors will want to see how systems and their impact will outlive their direct involvement in the system. A project can be sustainable in three main categories:
-
Organizational
The BCC spearheads the continuation and expansion of the National e-Service Bus. The National e-Service Bus is hosted in the NDC (maintained by BCC) and carries out operation and maintenance with the help of regular employees and consultants. The BCC has drafted a policy for the usage of the National e-Service Bus, its mainstream framework, and related guidelines. These policies are in line with ICT, which drafts acts for Digital Services. These acts and policies will ensure continuing operations as per guidelines by line ministries as well as the Digital Services Act.
-
Financial
The BCC provides a managed service for organizations using the National e-Service Bus. This service and support can act as a revenue generating source. For example, the BCC can take a service charge from organizations for connecting services, load balancing the connected services, etc. Also, the policy for usage of the National e-Service Bus includes revenue sharing provision for the owner of government databases and managed service providers. So, it can act as a revenue generating source for owner organizations. It proves the system can be financially sustainable. Also, the BNDA framework guidelines of standardization and shared service implementation are expected to reduce government ICT expenditure to a great extent.
-
Community
There are positive responses from users (banks, e-commerce organizations, and health departments, etc.) for the National e-Service Bus. These organizations are able to save costs and the effort required for customer on-boarding and identity verification-related tasks.
The BCC does not want to stay limited to the NID, Birth Registration Number (BRN), and mobile number only. It plans to open more options like the Business Identifications Number (BIN) verification, passport verification, driving license verification, and so on for users. The BCC is continuously educating the private sector on the National e-Service Bus, shared platform/e-services, and BNDA-related topics. This capacity development will be beneficial for line ministries during Enterprise Architecture design and implementation.
